- Fridays, 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM - April 8th to May 27th, 2011
- Sundays, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM - April 10th to June 5th, 2011
Tai-Chi, as it is practiced in the west today, can best be thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation combined. The objective of Tai-Chi is to purify one's vital energy (chi) and at the same time to open oneself to a spiritual dimension. The "chi" is a vital energy that is in us, around us, and is the origin of the universe.
Yang style Tai-Chi consists of a series of 108 movements always executed in the same sequence to calm the mind, allowing a sense of peace to be instilled as well as to stimulate a harmonious circulation of this chi, this energy, throughout the body. The 108 movements of Yang style Tai-Chi are conceived to clear the body's meridians. This stimulates the circulation of the vital energy in the body to nourish and stimulate the body's organs. Tai-Chi is relaxation in continual movements.
Tai-Chi is usually represented by the Yin-Yang symbol. Yang is the active element, and Yin the passive. For the Chinese, the balance of the world rests in harmonising these two polarities.
Cost: The 8 week series is $120.00 per person. Pre-registration required. Drop-ins are welcome to join the class for $20.00 per person.

Traditional Drum Making with David Finkle ~ Saturday, April 2nd, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM ~ This is a wonderful, unique opportunity for you to make your very own Traditional Drum. So much more than an instrument, although what a soulful instrument it does make. This is also an investment in a work of art and of history, that you will have for years to come.
Traditional Drum Making with David Finkle
Saturday, April 2nd, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
"The drum is often thought to help bring the physical and mental side of a person back in touch with his or her spiritual or heart side. As with many things in the native culture, the drum is used to bring balance and rejuvenation to a person through their participation in dancing, singing or listening to the heartbeat."
Spend the afternoon with David Finkle, a 'Renaissance man' by those who know him best. An Award-winning recording artist, sound engineer, music producer, graphic designer, 'go-to-man' for various plays and TV soundtracks, traditional drum/rattle maker and finally, workshop facilitator. If you've ever left your house, chances are you've probably seen or heard David acting in one capacity or another. David can often be seen performing either solo, with his beautiful 9 year old daughter Aurora (Grand prize winner 2008 Canadian Jnr. Aboriginal 'We Got Talent' competition!) and with any host of musicians from as many different cultural backgrounds. David can also be seen performing with the popular 'genre-jumping' group 'Northern Voices' of which he is a founding member. David has a wealth of traditional knowledge and history and possesses an engaging yet unimposing sense of spiritual conviction.
The Drum: You will receive a 14 inch Canadian Sprucewood frame that has been pre cut, glued and sanded by David. The wild whitetail deerskin is presoaked with holes punched, ready for lacing. Together with David you will lace it on the hoop, as you gain a working knowledge of traditional materials that have gotten us through millions of years of evolution before such things as “duct tape” and “poly rope”! David will share inspiring stories about the significance of the drum, and how it relates to our spirit.
You will learn how to care for your drum, play your drum … and even paint your drum. The drum is then taken home to dry, which takes about a day and a half.
Don't miss this incredibly rewarding hands on workshop!
Your investment: $150.00 per person. Register early, spaces are limited.

Journey Dance with Dodie Sobretodo
Sunday, March 27th, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Join Dodie Sobretodo for a fun, exhilarating afternoon of Journey Dance! What is JourneyDance?
There is a universe of life dancing within each and every one of us. Each with our own rhythm, our own dance, and our own song. Stand firmly in the foundation of your own feet as we venture outwards in all directions, finding our rhythm with all things.
With the mother as the caretaker of our dance, we find the courage to let our guards down. The courage to yield. The freedom to be present in this moment and listen to our own inner voice. In grounded presence, we dance in community, finding that each person we encounter is sent as a teacher from beyond. Through improvised movement we ride our own creative wave in harmony with the dance around us.
Your journey will be gently guided, leaving each dancer the space to breathe, to simply be. Our dance is meditation in movement. A chance to play, a chance to pray. A chance to heal and reveal. Connect and respect. Sometimes pretty, sometimes gritty. A chance to practice the art of living consciously. Nothing fancy, nothing forced. One step in front of another. Our dance is accompanied by music of all kinds, with an emphasis on world beats.
We are all dancers, sharing the same dance floor of life, each offering our own unique and cherished gifts. This dance warmly welcomes all souls, with deep honour and respect for each and every person who graces us by their simple presence.
Cost: $15.00 per person.

"Evolution is coiled within you"A wealthy wife and a failing businessman on a quest for answers, a journey in different ways, to a path to higher consciousness. Their hunger for understanding and spiritual being leads them to a phenomenon that has existed since the beginning of man. It is self evident that all men are created equal, yet some perform extraordinary achievements and others live a life of emptiness never reaching their full potential. There is a force that everyone is entitled to, that can bring the fulfillment his or her lives desire. That evolutionary force is Kundalini. Beyond science, beyond religion; Kundalini is the SOURCE of the FORCE. It is an untapped powerful resource available for centuries within every human body is still unexplained, mysterious and kept secret till today.
All humans have a powerful resource available within them called ‘Kundalini”, which is an energy that lies dormant most of the time at the base of the spine. Activating and awakening this force leads to an higher consciousness and brings the true nature of a person. It thus brings peace and harmony in his/her life. However, there are many pitfalls and challenges during the process of unlocking this powerful resource as this knowledge has been kept a secret for thousands of years.
This documentary film is an attempt to bring forth this ancient knowledge of resource that everyone is entitled to. In today’s time— survival, joy and peace among people is not going to be merely possible by imposing societal rules and regulations but with an evolution and understanding of higher consciousness within an individual. It is now time for us to attune with this force within us and find our true nature to live a purposeful life.
