An Introduction to Kundalini Yoga Workshop with Devinder Kaur and Atmabir Kaur
- If you've never tried Kundalini Yoga, this workshop is for you!

- Don't know your tattva from your nadi, this workshop is for you!
During this class we will do a short introductory Kundalini Yoga set which includes yoga postures, breath techniques and a meditation. There will be lots of time for questions and discussion.
Topics covered include:
- Benefits of practicing Kundalini Yoga;
- What to wear and what to bring to Kundalini Yoga class;
- Overview of basic postures (asanas), breath techniques (pranayam) and mantras;
- Questions and Answers.
Cost: $40.00 per person and includes a yoga mat rental for the workshop, a PranaShanti 100% cotton Tote Bag and 2 free class passes (expires 30 days from date of workshop). When is stress helpful or harmful and what happens in a person’s body when they feel or experience stress? What steps can be taken to manage and balance the differing levels of stress? What are some easy, practical tips and tools for managing stressful situations?
This series of classes will examine the effect of stress on both our bodies and minds and provide simple techniques for addressing its potentially harmful effects. It is an experientially based series that will provide you with opportunity to learn what causes stress, what happens to the body when it becomes stressed and most importantly, provide a system that you can use to regulate your stress level, increase your flexibility, soothe your nervous system and improve the general health of your spine and muscles.
Using a combination of gentle Somayog movements and effective breathing techniques, you will be equipped with tools that are easy to learn, easy to remember, portable, effective and lasting.
Over the 6 week series of classes you will practice a yoga style called Somayog and learn breathing techniques as part of the stress management system. You will be given a stress response journal and encouraged to write about your experiences with stress.
Classes will include discussion about stress and the opportunity to learn new Somayog postures every week.
This series is designed for anyone, who suffers from stress and wants to reduce it, wants to learn more about their body and breath, to reduce or eliminate back and/or body pain or to move more freely and easily. You will leave feeling more relaxed and comfortable in your body. You will also have a better understanding of how your body reacts to stress and how prolonged, daily stress can impact your body.

Baobab Tree is a socially responsible organization that gives back to the African community by raising funds and awareness for the village of Dagbamete in Ghana.

Learn how to play traditional drums and small percussion instruments from Ghana, West Africa, as well as learn short chants and simple groove steps. Material taught will be based on repertoire from Ghana, and taught according to aural tradition beginning with simple patterns and layering parts on top of one another.
Drumming provides confidence, self-esteem, physical workout and community building. Baobab Tree is a socially responsible organization that gives back to the African community by raising funds and awareness for the village of Dagbamete in Ghana.

About Your Teacher: Julia Walmsley has been working with Baobab Tree and has been involved with Ghanaian drumming, dancing and singing since 2002, in Toronto and Ottawa. She has worked as an educator with children in a variety of settings, including camps and aquatics. She is currently in her third year studying music at Carleton University with hopes of moving forward to become a Music Therapist. She strives to make every lesson she teaches educational, creative and fun!
